End-of-Life Therapeutics
Death doulas provide non-medical, holistic support and comfort to the dying person and their family, which may include education and guidance as well as emotional, spiritual and practical care.
Laura Yon helps ease this transition by:
- Journeying with the person and their family through dying
- Helping with end-of-life planning
- Understanding the dying process
- Offering Hospice massage
- Helping to prepare a death plan
- Being present for the dying vigil
- Sitting with the dying person and their family as they move through grief
- Assisting in planning the after death ritual – wake, memorial, service
- Being compassionately present throughout the experience
Historical Context:
Traditionally, midwives and doulas were the transition team, they helped to bring people in and helped to support their journey out of this life.
